The Interview
I sit in a conference room
with 20 other people.
There’s an emergency call
mid-interview. It’s you,
newborn baby.
What will they think of me
if I take the call? What will they think
if I don’t?
The interview continues.
I have to ride a horse
around a muddy field. I wear a frilly white dress—
I want to look professional.
My left hand holds
the reins. My right
picks up the phone. You are crying.
I drop the reins and take up a sword.
I cut off
my breast to make room on my chest
for comforting you.
Katie Manning is the author of The Gospel of the Bleeding Woman (Point Loma Press, 2013) and Tea with Ezra (Boneset Books, 2013). Her poetry has been published in New Letters, PANK, The Pedestal Magazine, and Poet Lore, among other journals and anthologies. She lives with her husband and son in Southern California, where she works as an Assistant Professor of English at Azusa Pacific University. Find her online at www.katiemanningpoet.com.

Pre-Order: Bonny McDonald - Kloster
From Kloster
Paint
your angels with pupils, dark.
Keep
your eyes open, jewel-toned, beautiful.
Not as
sapphire, blind and blinding,
but as
water: silty and reflective.
Somehow,
I have missed the Mississippi.
Here,
all the water is clear as glass,
not a
speck of debris.
No tires
and cups and foam spin in your waters.
Every
creek is clear as if filtered,
with no
record of where it’s been.
Pre-orders are now available for our newest chapbook release, Bonny McDonald's Kloster. This chapbook is limited to an edition of 26 hand made hardcover books, with french-folded craft paper in 14 different varieties.
Kloster is a sweeping poem in five parts that spans many times and places, a deep questioning about the past and how it determines our present.

Spring/Summer Updates
Too many things are in the works to post them all individually, so here is an update for all YFP happenings...
BROADSIDE SALE!!!!
From now until Sunday, April 7th if you buy one broadside we will send you a second broadside FOR FREE! If you have a preference for your free broadside let us know in the comment section of your order, otherwise we'll send you a random broadside with your order. That's 2 broadsides for $3. Can't beat that...
Vision/Verse 5
We are beginning the process of making the broadsides for this year's Vision/Verse show. 20 new broadside titles from some stellar poets. We are also working on a trade paperback anthology of the first five years of Vision/Verse poems. We will be making more announcements about this as it comes together.
Elizabeth Burk's Learning to Love Louisiana is flying off the shelf. We have sold out of the second printing, and are in the process of making a Third Printing of 50 copies. We will also be printing a Reading Edition of 10 copies for her reading in Lafayette on June 15th. There will also be a Special Edition (YFP-SE) version of the book that will not be for sale (but we will post pics!). There is also talk of doing an alternate art final printing later down the road. This book has gotten nothing but glowing responses so pick up a copy if you haven't already.
We are working on a new release by poet Bonny McDonald. Hope to have more info on this soon, but I can say that it may be our first hardcover release, which kinda explains why it is taking so long to get this release together. We are on the learning curve here... I can promise that the poetry is ridiculously good.
Stephanie Marker's mini-chapbook And Her Eyes Were Closed the Whole Time has now SOLD OUT. Check out Stephanie's new project here http://lazymousepress.blogspot.com/
Erica McCreedy's Red Winters chapbook has now SOLD OUT. We are thinking about a second edition printing sometime in the future.
There's much more going on but that's the main stuff. Keep in touch, y'all.

M. Rather Jr.'s "Lake Charles, Late May"
We are proud to announce the release of M. Rather, Jr.'s "Lake Charles, Late May." This is a re-release of a 2009 broadside that sold out WAY too fast. So we redesigned this puppy into an eight page xBook mini-chapbook (2.75"x4.25"), with 80lb. textured card stock covers and jump ring bindings. Limited to an edition of 12 copies, signed and numbered by the author.
These are NOW AVAILABLE, so please click the link below to get yours...
