We are proud to release the new chapbook by Ashley Mace Havird, Sleeping with Animals. This collection spans the globe as it contemplates family and growth.

Ashley Mace Havird’s book, The Garden of the Fugitives, won the 2013 X. J. Kennedy Prize for poetry (Texas Review Press).  Her chapbook, Dirt Eaters, won the South Carolina Poetry Initiative Prize and was published in 2009.  Her poems and short stories have appeared in many journals including The Southern Review, Shenandoah, Southern Poetry Review, and The Virginia Quarterly Review.  In 2002 she was awarded a Louisiana Division of the Arts Fellowship in Literature.  She lives with her husband, the poet David Havird, in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Toby Daspit, the self-proclaimed “Bard of the Blue Dog Cafe,” is Associate Professor of Education and Co-Director of the National Writing Project of Acadiana at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Toby is a frequent reader in the Lafayette and New Orleans poetry scenes and conducts poetry workshops frequently in area schools. Toby’s poems have been published in journals and anthologies including “The Quarterly,” “Never Bundle Review,” “di-vêrsé-city,” and “The Maple Leaf Rag”. He is the author of the chapbook “Anatomy of a Ghost and other poems not about you” (2006, Southern Hum Press) and was a featured poet for the 2010 Festival of Words in Grand Coteau, Louisiana.

Amy Fleury is a native of Nemaha County in rural northeast Kansas. Her poetry and fiction have appeared in numerous journals, including American Life in Poetry, Prairie Schooner, Southern Poetry Review, North American Review, The Southeast Review, Laurel Review, 21st, and The Yalobusha Review. Southern Illinois Press published her first collection of poetry, Beautiful Trouble, in 2004. It was the winner of the Crab Orchard Series in Poetry First Book Award.  As of Fall of 2008, she became the poet in the M.F.A. program at her alma mater, McNeese State University. Her new book is Sympathetic Magic.
